“Nowadays the IT/OT cybersecurity is high on the agenda of governments, regulatory authorities and businesses alike, given the central and crucial role it plays for the resilience of infrastructures, including critical ones. The rise of cybercrime, particularly targeting industrial and manufacturing companies, is fuelled by outdated infrastructure, IoT vulnerabilities, and a lack of cybersecurity personnel, costing the EU economies billions of euros annually. Meanwhile, traditional IT/OT cybersecurity measures prove to be ineffective against sophisticated cyber threats in complex and converging control systems.
Therefore, a more holistic and systematic approach is imperative for better cybersecurity. The cooperation between regulatory authorities, national cybersecurity agencies, technology providers, researchers and academia is instrumental.
In such a complex environment, Romania’s interest to participate and to support the Luxembourg Internet Days 2024, and to leverage upon the strong Romanian cybersecurity ecosystem, is more than justified. Romanian authorities made a priority from international and public-private cooperation. We take this opportunity to showcase the successful approach adopted for enhancing IT/OT cybersecurity at national level and to explore mechanisms that Luxembourg and Romania can pursue together, as well as with other international partners.”
